Encourage One Another

I watched another movie today which reminded me of an important lesson.

I was watching "The Kings Speech" and although he had people laughing at him or not thinking he could do it, the smallest amount of support and belief in him gave him all the strength he needed to keep going. Yes, it was difficult, but it would have been much more difficult had he not had the support.

In life, there are going to be times when things seem shard for us, in those times, it's important we have a support system of friends. In the same way, we need to ensure that we are there to support our friends and family when they are in need. A little support goes a long way.

So keeping it short today as it really is quite a simple concept, but something that the bible mentions quite often. Here are just a few bible verses:

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." (1 John 3:16-18) We can be suppportive by giving with our actions, not just cheering them on, but by doing things that will help them on their journey.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." (1 Thesalonians 5:11)

"not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25)

"Therefore encourage one another with these words." (1 Thesalonians 4:18) Sometimes just a few reassuring words is all someone needs.

Thankful for: A home

I got a letter today from my Compassion child that I sponser. It told me about her home she is living in and made me realise how lucky I am to live in a proper house with walls and a roof to keep me safe and warm. I see houses every day so to me most of the time, I don't realise how much I actually have. Sometimes we get caught up thinking about what we don't have we fail to realise just how much we actually DO have.
