The Lords Strength and Power

Psalm 29

"Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the glory of God thunders,
the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord strikes
with flashes of lightning.
The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;
the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord twists the oaks
and strips the forests bare.
And in his temple all cry, "Glory!"
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord is enthroned as King forever.
The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace."

Have you ever stopped to think about just how powerful our God is. As I read through this psalm, I am reminded about just how mighty and powerful our God is. He thunders over the earth, everything on Earth obeys His voice. I for one often go about my day not thinking about it. I forget to realise the almighty power that He holds in His hands.

As the psalm says "the Lord gives strength to his people". He doesn't just give it to one or two people, He gives it to ALL his people. Now, I imagine to share strength with just one person would be difficult, but imagine how strong you would need to be to share it with everyone. God has some mighty strength! We need to glorify His name daily. We need to be thankful for all that He has done. We need to worship His name daily.

This psalm was just a bit of a reminder to me. It's never stood out to me before, but it did just now. Sometimes God speaks to us through what we read. My guess is God is trying to tell me I need to glorify His name some more. I need to remember that it is Him that holds the strength and power, it is He that blesses me, not myself, nothing of this world can do what He has done for me.

Thankful for: Tea

I am a tea drinker, and I love it! Now I'm sure there are other things that I could thank God for that seem much more useful than tea. But I want to thank God for tea because I really just love my morning cup of tea every day.
