I am embarking on a bit of a journey over the next fortnight which ends with a God-filled weekend away with some other women of the church. We have been given a journal with some points to consider so over the next fortnight, I will be focusing on what they have to say.
Our first day of journeling is about connecting with Jesus.
What is it that allows us to be saved? What do we have to do?
"Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. he came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him." Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." "How can someone be born when they are old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!" Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit" (John 3:1-8)
To be saved is really quite simple. All we have to be born again. And to do that, we simply have to believe in Jesus, and we are then born of the flesh and Spirit.
The only person who can bring us this new life is Jesus.
I remember when I first became Christian and I said the sinners prayer. This was my first born again experience. Saying the prayer changed something in my heart, and I knew that it was the first day of a new life. It was the beginning of a new me!
Thankful for: Cleanliness
I spent the last 30 minutes cleaning my room before coming online to do this blog. And I have to admit, I am thankful for cleanliness. I don't just mean having a tidy room, but just the cleanliness we have here in Australia. Compared to some places we are living in luxury. We have clean fresh water, we have showers and baths, we have toilets. Some places don't get any of this, and therefore, cleanliness is not something they know of. I'm thankful for the cleanliness we have and the ability to be able to share and help bring about cleanliness to others through giving to missions.
