Distance

Do you ever feel like some days people feel further from you than other days. When you don't stay in contact with someone for a while you feel disconnected yet, still there is something connecting you? I do.

I met up with a friend the other day that I had not seen for a while. I sent her a message online out of the blue to find out that she was in the area for the month so we had a catch up. A part of me was actually a little worried about the meeting. I wasn't sure how much either of us had changed, I wasn't sure what we would talk about, I really just had no idea what to expect. But the day came, we chatted for over an hour and there was no awkwardness at all, it was as if there was never any break in communication between us.

I then thought about my connection with God. There have been times over the past 5 years where I have been in continual communication with Him. There have been times where I have prayed every day and read my bible everyday, then there have been times where I have neglected it all. The times where I find myself neglecting to communicate with Him are the times I find myself thinking He is distant. When I am in continual prayer with Him, and reading the Word, then I feel Him closer. But no matter how distant I have been from Him, when I do come back and realise how neglectful I have been He is always there, and it's like we haven't been distant at all.

It reminded me of this scripture, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." (James 4:8). So, when you feel distant ask yourself, who is the one that is being distant here? You or Him? Chances are He is waiting for you to come back to Him, and when you do, He will continue to draw closer and closer.

Thankful for: Imagination

It's from imagination that I believe dreams are birthed.  And without dreams we have nothing to work for. Some of us have big imaginations, others have little, but we all need them, they make life more exciting, and help us learn and grow.
