Purpose

Just another little something that I was thinking about as I've been spending time out in the country. Both yesterday and today I found myself driving past big paddocks with lots of sheep, some of these even had some lambs which I thought was all very cute until it hit me... many of those would have been born to simply be killed. For one thing it made me thankful that I was not born a sheep, but also made me think about purpose.

When animals are born, they are born with a purpose. For sheep, some are born to breed further sheep, some are born and have a purpose of giving wool, and some are born simply to be killed and eaten as food. Then there's cows and bulls, some born to breed, some born to give milk, some born again, to be killed. For some, it doesn't seem like the ideal life but, it is a life with a purpose.

We too, have a life of purpose. Thankfully for us, we were not born to be killed and eaten, however, we were born to live a purposeful life for God. This doesn't involve us being killed but it does involve sacrificing our own worldy needs and wants, sacrificing our lives to live a life for Him.

Going back to the animals, some people may think that some animals purpose is more meaningful than another, but... they are all important in the way we live our lives. No one animal's purpose is more important or meaningful than anothers', and it is the same with our own lives. We may feel like our purpose is nothing compared to someone else's but each of us have a role to play and we need to complete our part for life to continue the way God intends.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28)

The above verse from Romans illustrates further that we have purpose on our lives, and the purpose which God has given us is not for evil. He purposed us for good and He will help us to fulfill the purpose He has placed on our lives if we lay them down to Him and love Him.

It may be difficult to discover exactly what your purpose is but it's important to know that you have one and you shouldn't give up on it. Keep going! Ask God for help in discovering your purpose and know that you really do have a part to play in the world.

Thankful for: My Guitar

I love my guitar. There are times when I just want to sit and sing praise and worship to God. My guitar allows me to do that. Of course, I don't need my guitar to do this, but there is something about it that makes me feel closer to Him. Maybe because I am using the gifts He gave me to worship Him, I don't know. But I am thankful for my guitar and for the gift God has placed on my life allowing me to play and sing along with it in worship to Him.
