I had something really interesting to say today, but now I've forgotten what it was.
So... I'm going to tell a little bit of a testimony that happened to me sometime last year.
We often hear stories that God will provide all we need and the bible tells us that He knows our needs and He will fulfill all of them.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what
you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than
clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If
that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and
tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you
of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:25-34)
So here's my testimony about how God provided for me.
It was about 14 months ago when it seemed like everything around me was going wrong, and suddenly I was in need of money that I did not have. First, my car started playing up and when I took it in to get looked at they told me what I needed was going to cost me $600. I had the money in the bank however, that was meant to be going towards my car registration costs that were coming up in a few months. I decided that I needed my car and I would work it out, so I got my car fixed but when I went to pay, it turned out I had a warranty on my car, and it was all covered. What was supposed to cost $600 cost nothing. But that wasn't the end. Two months later, I was preparing to move house (which can be quite costly), I was changing jobs and taking a considerable pay cut, I had my registration due and once again... my car was playing up and this time it was going to cost me atleast $2000 to fix. I had no idea how I was going to pay for all of this. I had started paying tithes at church properly only the year before, and many people outside of the church would have told me to stop paying those and I'll soon have enough money for everything but, I kept paying my tithes trusting that God had it all under control. I have to admit there were times I worried, and stressed that I was not going to be able to sort it all out, that I'd be without my car and living on 2 minute noodles, but I had to trust that God had it in His hands.
It took a couple of weeks but I had it all sorted, I had the money that I needed to get everything sorted. I was stuck to a very tight budget for a while, but the good thing was, I had the money to pay for everything I needed.
Then one day, I went out to my car and on the windscreen was an envelope with $300 in it. Who ever left it didn't say who they were, but they knew I was having some financial difficulties and God had spoken to them so, they were there to help me out. $300 didn't cover everything obviously that I had just spent, but it was extremely helpful. It meant that I still had plenty of money to feed myself and to pay for those day to day things that often add up.
So... that was my story.
Basically, I think it's important to trust God even in the tough times. I kept paying my tithe knowing that when I gave to Him, He would give back to me in more ways than one. He would look after me. We need to know that He will help us find a way through anything.
Thankful for: Blankets
Yep, you read right. I said blankets. They keep us warm and after a day like today when I was freezing cold, my blanket was very useful. Even the oldest blankets still keep us warm. So I'm thankful for blankets.
